Hatching Egg Policies
By placing an order with Sunshine Meadows, you are agreeing to these policies:
All hatching egg sales are final – this includes all pre-orders. There are NO cancellations, changes, or refunds once an order has been placed. Payment is due at the time of your order. All orders are filled in the order they are received, as availability allows. Hatching eggs can be picked up locally at Athens or Edgar, WI locations (as specified in the shopping cart at checkout) or they can be shipped to you. We use UPS for shipping, as they have been much more reliable for us than the post office.
Hatching eggs are a perishable, buyer-beware purchase: There is NO GUARANTEE ON HATCH RATES. While we ship fresh, fertile eggs, there are many factors that are beyond our control – such as shipping conditions, incubation variabilities, and environmental factors, and therefore we cannot guarantee hatch rates. We regularly incubate our eggs, and hatch rates are usually 90-100%. However, once the eggs leave my care, there is no guarantee they will hatch. Hatch rates can be severely impacted by shipping, sometimes shipped eggs will not even begin developing. This does not mean they were not fertilized, it means the shipping process / handling they were subjected to in transit damaged the embryo enough that they couldn’t start growing.
Pre-Orders:
Orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, processed in the order received. Hatching Egg orders are listed by the month you would prefer to receive them in, but we do not have a specific time they will ship. Although we do our best to ship them within the month ordered, we cannot guarantee specific dates so please be aware of this when ordering. We will email you the week prior to shipment, and if you are unable to accept your order at that time you must notify us immediately so we can move to the next customer in line and reschedule your shipment. We do not refund cancellations, but we can reschedule your order. By placing an order, you acknowledge and agree that fulfillment may take several months. No specific shipping dates are guaranteed. Hatch and lay rates are determined by natural factors outside of our control.
Please read through the blog post titled ‘Incubation & Hatching’ located in the ‘Blog’ section of the website. Even if you are a seasoned hatcher, you may learn something new! Hatching shipped eggs can be difficult and very different from hatching your own eggs, and giving them the best environment possible may be the difference they need for a better success rate!
