Silverudds Hatching Eggs

Our Silverudds Blue are some of our sweetest chickens! With their smaller frames, friendly personalities, large, dark eyes and beautiful coloring of blue, black or splash, they are sure to quickly become a favorite! Silverudds are the only purebred chicken to lay green eggs, which are sometimes also marked by various textures, speckles and blooms. They are production birds, often producing around 250 eggs/year. My line of Silverudds is a combination of several different lines of breeders of first imports, combined for diversity, and then selected especially for egg color, texture, speckles and bloom. My girls lay larger size eggs, and lots of them, in all shades of the green spectrum from minty green to olive greens. Although I cannot guarantee the exact eggs you will receive – don’t be disappointed if some seem plain, as all my flock carries speckled genetics and my hens give many speckled and bloomed eggs regularly. As with any speckled layer, the same hen produces both speckled eggs and plain-colored eggs. The eggs in your dozen will be a selection of whatever the hens decide for that week. This pen has Blue, Black and Splash girls under Blue roosters, so you should get a good mix of all three colors.

Our entire flock of Silverudds, including hens and roosters, are all tested homozygous for blue egg genetics. This means all the chicks that hatch from these eggs will also be homozygous by parentage.
